Whether you’re thinking about a career in business, or exploring new career and competitive opportunities, DECA will help you develop valuable skills and prepare you for your future work field. 

What is DECA?

DECA is an international organization dedicated to preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in high schools and colleges. Our school’s chapter involves not only competing in DECA, but also internship based learning, including working in the school store as it is a student-run business! Additionally, we focus on real-world learning through our successful and diverse guest presenters that we schedule for our classes, who give us insight into the business world. 

How competitions work

DECA provides hundreds of competitive event options ranging from Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Financial literacy and more. Once you choose which event you would like to participate in, our student leaders and DECA Advisor, Mrs. Gellenbeck, help you prepare for your event to ensure success and qualification to the next round.

There are 2 main pathways you can take to participate: competing with a Roleplay + Cluster Exam, or competing with a Written + Presentation/Prepared event. Roleplays involve receiving a hypothetical situation/problem for which you will advise a solution to the judge on the spot. If you like to be more prepared, you can choose the pre events, for which you will have months to put together a project before you present it to the judges.
