Fort Orange, known as “The Fort” it is one of our retail school-based enterprises for DECA, started in 2008 when OOHS opened. It functions in three ways…
- We have a brick & mortar location in the OOHS cafe, which shares a space with our Pioneer Peak food/bev SBE.
- We set up pop-up shops at various community events, including teacher convocation at the start of the year, as well as home football games and more.
- We also manage the FORT ORANGE ONLINE STORE which is usually fully functional and up and running by late September of each school year (sooner if returning seniors get it going!)
Students operating Fort Orange help source merchandise from local companies, including our very own Orange Apparel Co.
Updates to “The Fort” in the last few years have included…
- After the 2022-23 school year, when Mrs G helped take over the Marketing and DECA program, Fort Orange was given a face lift including minor renovations
- In 2023, we started “Pioneer Peak” which now shares the space with Fort Orange
- We re-certified Fort Orange through the DECA SBE program in early 2023. Two students attended ICDC in Anaheim, CA to represent Fort Orange in the International Competition!
- A major focus this year was to build our brand and merchandising for the pop-ups and we hope to focus on securing a more “permanent” stadium space in the next 1-2 years.
