Fort Orange is our school store, located in the Orange High School cafe and operated mostly by Orange DECA members. We sell (Smart Snacks approved, pre-packaged) snacks, beverages and some seasonal merch/spirit wear. It is our Food Operations School-Based Enterprise via DECA. We are looking to re-certify it for GOLD CERTIFICATION for the 2025-26 school year.
Our FORT ORANGE timeline…
- 2025-26: we decided to rebrand the school store to only ONE location/school-based-enterprise (SBE) again. “Pioneer Peak” will fade away (lots of variables including the choice to not pursue a food vendor license at this time) and Fort Orange will become the only SBE in this space.
- 2023: we launched “Pioneer Peak” as our food operations SBE, sharing the space with Fort Orange. We acquired a new espresso machine to elevate our coffee brand and partnered with various local coffee shops over the years, including Crimson Cup and Stauf’s. Kaden M & Sierra T, helped secure a certified brand through DECA’s School Based Enterprise (SBE) competition in 2023. Both seniors qualified to DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) that year for the SBE competition. Under their leadership, they branded our coffee and beverage line as Pioneer Peak, sticking with the Pioneer person’s mountain theme.
- 2023, under co-President Sierra T, we gave the store a major renovation/facelift including removing dated slatwall, painting walls, acquiring a new seating area and working to update the visual merchandising and aesthetics
- 2022-23 school year: Mrs Gellenbeck helped take over the Marketing and DECA program and Fort Orange was given a decorative upgrade
