OOHS National Business Honor Society organizes service projects

We have done a lot of fun service projects over the last year and are finally taking the time to recap them! Service learning is an opportunity for club members to get involved, work together and “give back” to our community. NBHS members are encouraged to earn a minimum of ten service hours throughout the school year and we are always looking for new ideas.

Toy Drive Winter 2020

At our winter social event, we made our business club shirts and collected toys for our annual toy drive. Some years we have participated in Toys for Tots, but this year we participated in the Firefighter’s for Kids. Students also created holiday cards for a local retirement home that had limited visitors due to Covid.

March 2021: Developmental Disabilities Month & World Down Syndrome Day 3/21

We have always celebrated Developmental Disabilities month with our special education department and LOVE seeing our coffee cart kids every Wednesday morning! We truly believe that we are all different and unique, but we are #BETTERTOGETHER and enjoy bringing awareness to this cause. We celebrated by organizing a RUN FOR 3.21 with our business club members and also spending some time with our friends by hanging out on the track.

Earth Day Spring 2021

Some members participated in an EARTH DAY park cleanup at Highbanks Metro Park. Although we’d originally planned to hike around the park and get some exercise, it was NOT great weather… so we cut the outing short, but still helped the park a bit and got a picture. 🙂

Back to school service hours

This year we participated in the first ever CLUB FAIR at freshman orientation. Natalie Au and other NBHS & Business Club officers volunteered their time {along with Mrs G’s kids!} and educated freshman on all the fun we have in our department! Senior Emma B also spent time getting our informational bulletin board up to kick off the year.

Custom Holiday Apparel Winter 2021

Many of our business students and club members helped fulfill holiday orders for teachers, students and families. The proceeds this year all returned back to our business club, however, in future years we’d like to donate a portion of profits to some of our favorite charities.

Donation Drive Winter 2021/22

This winter we’ve collected socks & are making blankets for a local shelter.

Thanks to all of our members for participating, and for all the memories! Stay tuned for more upcoming service opportunities & recaps!
